Sakai Ichimonji Ippei is a brand of knives made by Takahashikusu in Sakai. Takahashikusu was established in 1917, to bring the traditional Japanese artisans knives to the world. They will not disclose the names of the blacksmiths who make their blades. This knife is a vintage dead stock Sakai Ichimonji Ippei 230mm Yanagiba, core steel is unknown.
Meaning “Willow Leaf” the Yanagiba is a single bevel knife used for slicing fish into sashimi but can be used for slicing meats also.
This knife is made from carbon steel and will form rust if it is left wet after use.
