Nao Yamamoto apprenticed at age 18 at Asia Hamono in Echizen, where he lernt the Echizen forging techniques under Masami Asai. After he won the ARS award at the Nipon knife show in 2013, he established Yamamoto Hamono. He works with his wife at Yamamoto Hamono where continues to uphold the Takafu forging traditions.
